How KP works

A step-by-step guide from filing to settlement or certification.

Complaint filing

The complainant files a complaint at the barangay office. You can also pre-file online through this portal and then sign in person to make it official.

Summons

The respondent receives a summons to appear for mediation. Both parties are expected to attend.

Mediation

The Lupon or Pangkat conducts mediation to help the parties reach an amicable settlement voluntarily.

Pangkat hearing

If mediation does not result in a settlement, a Pangkat (panel) is constituted to hear the case and try again.

Settlement or certification

Either an amicable settlement is signed by the parties, or a Certification to File Action is issued so the complainant may bring the matter to court.

Timeline

Mediation and Pangkat proceedings follow specific periods under the law. Your barangay can give you exact dates once your case is filed.
